A.L. Mills, the grandfather of Medline’s founders, establishes a Chicago garment factory that makes aprons for the stockyards.

Nuns from a nearby hospitals approach A.L. about making hospital garments. Resultantly, Mills Hospital Supplies is incorporated and begins manufacturing surgical gowns and uniforms.

Mills Hospital Supply, run by A.L.’s son Irving, manufactures their first coloured surgical gown in misty and jade green.

Originally named Medco, Medline is founded by A.L.’s grandsons Jim and Jon with approximately 185 square metres of warehouse space and one loading dock in Evanston, Illinois.

Charlie, Andy and Jimmy begin running the company, continuing the long legacy of the Mills family in the healthcare industry.

Medline goes International and currently has offices in 20 countries around the globe.

Medline acquires ISP business from Carefusion and establishes operations in Europe, Japan and Australia.

MedTrans, Medline’s dedicated truck fleet, boasting on-time deliveries as well as flexibility and special delivery services for our customers starts service in Germany. Currently, MedTrans is on the road in Germany, France, Ireland and Spain.

Medline opens their international headquarters in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

As a response to the fast growing demand of products and services in Europe, Medline opens a new warehouse in Kleve, Germany, and a new manufacturing site in Bánovce nad Bebravou, Slovakia.

Medline Assembly SAS, located in Châteaubriant, France, opens a new warehouse to meet the increasing SPT demand.

A full portfolio of Medline-branded fluid management products is launched.

Medline expands their Medline-branded surgical glove lines. The addition of these new gloves gives the company arguably the most comprehensive portfolio available in the market.

The first delivery via the Medline Services Prime Vendor solution is made in Geneva, Switzerland. As an integrated supply chain service, Prime Vendor provides healthcare facilities a single point of contact for all of their medical device consumables, from order management to coordinated deliveries. It enhances efficiency for customers and frees up space within their facilities, providing significant cost savings.
